Roles and responsibilities will be discussed at job offer stage.   The Emergency Department at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda provides an independently staffed Adult and Paediatric emergency service for the populations of Louth, Meath, Monaghan and North County Dublin.  The department treated approximately 64500 patients in 2019 with 30% of these paediatric presentations. The department is the trauma centre for the North East and one of the busiest nationally. The department has established Advanced Nurse Practitioner services in Minor Injuries, Rapid Assessment and Treatment and Acute Medicine. We have undertaken a major capital development project, which has seen the expansion of the Emergency Department incorporating resuscitation rooms, treatment areas, three high observations bays, a Clinical Decision Making Unit (CDU) an expanded Paediatric ED and designated Minor Injury Unit...   The Emergency Department division includes the Acute Medical Assessment Unit (AMAU), Admission, Treatment and Investigation Unit (ATIU), the Dundalk Injury Unit as well as both adult and paediatric Emergency Departments.  The department has two clinical facilitator who will provide orientation to the department and facilitate the many continual professional development (CPD) opportunities.     The CNM3 in Emergency Medicine has day to day operational responsibilities which  include the following;   - The promotion of best practice that is evidence based with the ultimate outcome of improving patient care and outcomes. - Provide senior and expert professional advice to the Nursing and wider care team and the Director of Nursing. - Ensure appropriate skill-mix and efficient deployment of staffing and other resources across departments. - Ensure appropriate professional development of staff is in place via PDP and training needs assessment. - The implementation of the Quality Safety and Risk Framework within associated specialities - The continuous development of service based clinical governance teams. - The development and monitoring of key Service Objectives in line with local and national service and professional requirements. - The delivery of the National, Louth Meath Hospital Group service plan. - Maintaining a collaborative approach to multidisciplinary and inter departmental working. - Recruitment, retention and monitoring of staff performance within the service. - Establishing and promoting effective channels of communication internally within the department and with other departments in order to provide a seamless service. - The operational management of the nursing teams in the Emergency Medicine Division including Human Resources and Finance functions to support effective and efficient use of resources. - Providing on-going practical and psychological support for nursing staff and other members of the multidisciplinary teams. - The post holder will support the implementation of the group Nursing Strategy.   This role will develop in line with service needs as defined by the Director of Nursing and on-going service developments within the Hospital group.

The Patient Flow Manager will provide Professional and Clinical leadership within the patient flow team and throughout Connolly Hospital.    The focus of the role is to improve the patient experience and quality of care throughout the hospital throughout the hospital while demonstrating dignity, compassion and respect.    This essence of this role is to work within the Acute setting and as a CNM2 or equivalent HSCP, overseeing the identification and seamless, safe transfer of patients from the Acute setting to our Step-down facilities. The role of the Clinical Nurse Specialist (Transient Ischaemic Attack Nurse) is to provide for the care and on-going management of patients with a TIA. The Department of Radiology Cavan and Monaghan Hospital provides a Diagnostic Imaging service to the Cavan/Monaghan catchment area, approximately 133,666 of a population base.   The Cavan General Hospital Department has Imaging modalities that include CT, MR, and Ultrasound, Interventional Radiology and General DR and CR rooms. We provided an imaging service that delivers approximately 90,500 examinations per annum.  X-Ray, US and DEXA imaging modalities are located in our Monaghan Department   The Basic Grade Radiographer will provide and contribute to the provision of a general X-ray service for Cavan Monaghan Hospital.  They will become members of the existing radiography team delivering X-ray as part of a dynamic and growing health care facility catering for the health needs of all service users.  The successful candidate will carry out the duties appropriate to a basic grade radiographer.  This post will form part of our plan to implement an 8am to 8 pm service   This campaign will run in compliance with the Code of Practice prepared by the Commission for Public Service Appointments (CPSA). For all informal enquiries please contact recruitment@rcsihospitals.ie   The advanced practice service is provided by nurses who practice at a higher level of capability as independent, autonomous and expert advanced practitioners.  The overall purpose of the service is to provide safe, timely, evidenced based nurse-led care to patients at an advanced nursing level .This involves undertaking and documenting complete episodes of patient care, which includes comprehensively assessing, diagnosing, planning, treating and discharging patients in accordance with collaboratively agreed local policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines and/or service level agreements/ memoranda of understanding.   The RANP (Neonatology) demonstrates advanced clinical and theoretical knowledge, critical thinking, clinical leadership and complex decision-making abilities.    The RANP (Neonatology) practices in accordance with the Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics for Registered Nurses and Registered Midwives (NMBI 2021), the Scope of Nursing and Midwifery Practice Framework (NMBI 2015), Advanced Practice (Nursing) Standards and Requirements (NMBI 2017), and the Values for Nurses and Midwives in Ireland (Department of Health 2016).   The RANP (Neonatology) service provides clinical leadership and professional scholarship in the delivery of optimal nursing services and informs the development of evidence based health policy at local, regional and national levels.   The RANP (Neonatology) contributes to nursing research that shapes and advances nursing practice, education and health care policy at local, national and international levels.   The RANP (Neonatology) will use his / her extensive clinical knowledge and expertise in this specialist area to provide a holistic approach to meet the needs of patients within this service. Under the direction of the assigned Consultant, the post holder will manage their own case load, conduct comprehensive health assessments, instigate appropriate investigations, provide education to parents and staff, audit own practice and carry out research.    The key aims of the post are as follows :   - Contribute to the continuous improvement of the quality of care to neonates within Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital (OLOLH) and the RCSI Group. - Share the caseload management with the Consultant Neonatologist/ Paediatrician in OLOLH. - Lead out on supporting clinicians in the care of the neonate who are attending OLOLH. - Practice with the highest degree of clinical skill and knowledge and provide a holistic approach to the care of the neonate, their parents and families, ensuring the highest quality of care. - Assess, diagnose, treat and discharge (where appropriate) a caseload of babies within the scope of practice in a safe and co-ordinated way. - Participate in all aspects of patient care from time of diagnosis to follow-up treatment. - Develop competencies to refer caseload to other clinicians as clinically appropriate. - Build relationships with inter disciplinary departments - Improve patient outcomes through health promotion, education and risk reduction. - Develop standards of care that benefit the patient, their parents, maternity and neonatal services and the organisation. - Evaluate the quality of the service being provided through on-going clinical audit and research. - Analyse clinical activity from the healthcare records to refine clinical delivery of care and demonstrate evidence of improving access and standards of neonatal care. - Participate in the continuing professional development and education of nurses, midwives, student midwives/nurses (undergraduate and postgraduate), and all health care professionals involved in the management of the neonate. - Mentor new nursing/midwifery personnel to the service, developing competencies and clinical supervision where necessary on neonatology practice. - Ensure the role development meets the requirements set by NMBI for a registered RANP.

All informal enquiries can be made to HR.CavMonHospital@hse.ie    To work within a multidisciplinary team in providing a safe, effective, high quality midwifery service to women, babies and their families.   Cavan General Hospital is an acute general hospital incorporating an Obstetric Consultant Led Unit and a Midwifery Led Unit.  The hospital provides maternity and gynaecological services primarily to the catchment areas of counties Cavan, Monaghan, Leitrim, Longford and North Meath.   The Obstetric department  provides: - Antenatal bookings and return antenatal clinics. - Outreach bookings and return antenatal clinics. - Maternity day ward facility. - Antenatal and Postnatal Parent craft Education. - Breastfeeding support and advice. - Antenatal in-patient care. - Low and High risk intra-partum care including 24 hour epidural service. - Postnatal care for mothers and babies. - Special care baby unit. - Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit and Gynaecological Services. - Obstetric ultrasound scanning. The Midwifery Led Unit provides: Antenatal. Intrapartum and Postnatal care to low risk women. Care is delivered by a team of midwives whose practice is guided by regional evidence based guidelines. If there is any deviation from the normal at any stage of pregnancy, delivery, or post-natal period the mother or neonate is transferred to consultant led care. The facility has two birthing and overnight rooms set in a homely environment.   Special Care Baby Unit provides: Neonatal care to babies born electively after 30 weeks gestation and at earlier gestations as unplanned deliveries.  Neonates requiring intensive care are ventilated, stabilised and transferred to one of the Dublin Neonatal Units primarily Rotunda Hospital and return to Cavan for high dependency and special care until discharge.  The capacity of the unit is 5 cots and 1 isolation room with one overnight stay room for mothers.
