To act as operational manager of Clinical Pharmacy services.   The Pharmacy Department in Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown is a dynamic, forward-looking department which is characterised by a passionate commitment to patient-centred care of the highest possible standard. We aim to ensure the safe, effective and economical use of medicines, and support education, training and practice-based research. The department consists of pharmacists, pharmaceutical technicians, and support staff.Our core values are compassion, innovation, co-operation, professionalism, integrity, and respect.   As part of the clinical pharmacy service to the Emergency Department, Critical Care, Haematology, Respiratory, Surgical, and Medicines for the Elderly services, clinical pharmacists monitor prescriptions and provide advice & medicines information to medical and nursing colleagues, to patients and to their carers.   Other aspects of the service include antibiotic stewardship and surveillance, outpatient dispensing to staff and to patients of the Mental Health Service, formulary management, drug protocol development, and audit.

The Geriatric Medicine service in Connolly Hospital covers acute, rehabilitation, stroke and ambulatory care services for older people. The Geriatric Medicine Community Liaison Service that this post covers works across acute hospital and the local area in CHO 9 including a remit to St Mary’s Hospital, Phoenix Park and private and public nursing homes in the catchment over a split sessional basis.

The post holder is required to independently scan and mange daily lists and workflow. The department has a CT, MR, 2 Ultrasound rooms, one interventional suite and four general exam rooms three of which are digital.

Connolly Hospital has an established Dermatology service for Dublin North East.  It is Consultant led by our current Dermatologists Dr. Marina O’Kane, Dr Karen Eustace and Richard Watchorn .  The Hospital now wishes to establish a nurse led service which will enhance the work and improve the patient outcomes of our current dermatology service.    Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown is running a recruitment campaign for Clinical Nurse Manager 2 for the Dermatology department - The service believes that there is a limited applicant pool of Registered General Nurses with a Dermatology Level 8 qualification , therefore in order to address this concern the the CNM2 may also be consider with a view to undertaking a Candidate CNS role in the future. - A candidate appointed at CNM2 level must pursue and obtain a Level 8 Quality and Qualifications Ireland major academic award/qualification relevant to Dermatology within a 2 year period of appointment.  Non-obtainment of the specialist qualification will lead to termination of this contract and redeployment within the organisation.  - The Academic Fees for this programme will be supported by the Office of the Nursing and Midwifery Services Director/regional Nursing and Midwifery Planning and Development Unit (NMPDU), as per the conditions outlined in the HSE Circular 020/2009. The CNM2 in Dermatology will contribute to the improvement of the health care experience and outcomes for patients attending dermatology services.   Caseload e.g. Patients – adults over 16 years of age CNM 2 (Dermatology) will focus initially on the following patient groups List caseload – reference Scope of Practice of Clinical Nurse Specialist (Dermatology) A CNM2 Dermatology here in Connolly will support an enhancement of the Dermatology service, Assist in the reduction of Waiting lists, Standardise care pathways for dermatological conditions and provide a patient centred approach to care in addition to supporting the further developments within the Dermatology service.   The post holder will report to the relevant: - Director of Nursing - Assistant Director of Nursing - CNM 3 Ambulatory & Medical The CNM2 Dermatology will work closely with the Dermatology Consultants and the NCHD team.   There is one initial permanent whole-time vacancy available in the Outpatient’s Department, Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown.    A panel may be created from this campaign for Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown, Dublin 15, from which current and future, permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full time or part time duration may be filled.
