Theatre Operatives work as part of a multidisciplinary team to assist in the provision of health and social care for patients in the perioperative setting. 

 

The Theatre Operative will work under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse to facilitate safe and efficient patient care in this clinical setting. 

The role will require adapting to change in a rapidly evolving perioperative environment and encourage team members to embrace necessary innovations, possess a positive attitude towards challenges and encouraged to take steps towards solutions to various tasks. 

Essential Criteria

Statutory Registration, Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc 

 

  Candidates for appointment must have: 

 

  • A minimum of 18 months relevant experience in an acute healthcare setting in the last 4 years. 

And 

  • Successfully completed one of the following qualifications: 
  • FET / QQI (FETAC) Level 5 Certificate in Health Service Skills, 
  • FET / QQI (FETAC) Level 5 Certificate in another Healthcare Related Award E.g., Healthcare Support, Nursing Studies, 
  • A Nursing Certificate (from another country) but recognised by QQI to be at FETAC Level 5 (minimum). 

   Or 

  • 2 year’s relevant experience in an acute healthcare setting in the last 4 years and where an applicant does not yet hold a FET / QQI (FETAC) level 5 Certificate in Health Service Skills or a FET / QQI (FETAC) Level 5 Certificate in another Healthcare Related Award E.g., Healthcare Support; - then they must agree to successfully complete this required course of study within 18 months of commencing employment. 

Health 

A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.  

 

Character 

Each candidate for and any person holding the office must be of good character.
