The appointed person has both operational and strategic managerial functions as determined by the Director of Nursing
This will include a strong focus on the provision of professional and clinical leadership across Nursing Services in Louth County Hospital. The post holder is currently responsible for the medical units, including Step down, Medical 1 and Stroke rehab alongside outpatient’s services and day services. The post holder also provides operational support to services such as ambulatory and out patient’s diabetes and older persons services, minor injury unit, endoscopy and operating theatres.
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the provision of high quality evidenced based nursing practice in designated areas of responsibility. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that Nursing care and Nursing service delivery is adapted to meet the emerging needs of our patients and to reflect best practice on a continuous basis. In doing so the post holder will ensure a service user centeredness approach to service developments and delivery.
The post holder will have a lead role in the clinical governance of Nursing services in defined service areas. This will include; contributing to the development of key process and outcome standards and objectives, the development of key performance indicators and monitoring of same, taking a lead in quality assurance programmes including those aligned to Pathway To Excellence designation.
The Assistant Director of Nursing role is a key Nursing leadership role and as such the post holder is central to the delivery of the Louth Hospitals Nursing Strategy, Dublin North East Region Strategy and national service plans.. This will include; contributing to the development of key process and outcome standards and objectives, the development of Key performance indicators and monitoring of same, and adopting a leadership role in quality assurance programmes.
