Candidates must have at the latest date of application: -
Professional Qualifications & Experience, etc.
- Have obtained a Professional Cookery award at minimum Level 6 on National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) or equivalent maintained by the Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI).
Or
- Have obtained an equivalent qualification to i) from another jurisdiction.
Or
- Be currently employed as a Chef in the Irish Health Service.
And
- Candidates must possess the requisite knowledge and ability, including a high standard of suitability and professional ability, for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.
Health
A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.
Character
Each candidate for and any person holding the office must be of good character
Post Specific Requirements:
- Minimum three years' satisfactory experience in the role of a chef in institution or other establishment catering for a minimum of 200 persons per day.
- Demonstrate depth and breadth of experience in the operational management of a food production kitchen which adheres to HACCP guidelines and Environmental Health Standards as relevant to the role.
- A QQI Level 2 Certificate in HACCP and working knowledge of basic food hygiene (HACCP). A copy of the candidate’s current and valid QQI level 2 HACCP certificate must be attached along with the CV for eligibility.
