Overview

The Head of Quality is a senior leadership role within the organisation, responsible for directing and coordinating all aspects of the organisations Quality and Safety function. Serving as a key member of the Executive Management Team, the successful candidate will lead the implementation of robust clinical governance, incident management, and risk mitigation strategies to ensure excellence in patient care and service delivery.

 

The Quality and Safety Department provides support to all hospital staff to enable them to incorporate safe management practice and quality in all activities in the hospital. Activities include analysing incidents and identifying trends, co-ordination of cases reported to the Coroner, co-ordination of claims made against the hospital and promoting the health and safety of staff and patients. 

 

The department strongly promotes patient advocacy through the management of complaints and compliments. In conjunction with the Data Governance Department, also facilitates patient access to information through data protection and freedom of information procedures.

Essential Criteria

Candidate must by closing date of application have :-

A minimum of 5 years Senior Managerial Experience working in an acute Hospital in-patient service, in a post that has involved quality and patient safety management as relevant to this role

And 

A 3rd level qualification in a health related area 

                                             Or

An academic award in Risk Management or Quality in Healthcare on the Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) framework or equivalent.

                                              And

  • Have experience of Incident Management processes and subsequent System Analysis Investigation processes.
  • Experience of leading and implementing Quality improvement initiatives within a Health setting.
  • Experience of changing organisational culture regarding Quality and Patient Safety through the delivery of education and training.
  • Experience of Team Leadership and collaborative working with multiple stakeholders

 

 

Health

A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.

 

Character

Each candidate for and any person holding the office must be of good character

 

 

Post Specific Requirements:

 

  • Have experience of Incident Management processes and subsequent System Analysis Investigation processes.

Other requirements specific to the post

 

• Access to appropriate transport to fulfil the requirements of the role
