A panel may be formed as a result of this campaign for Clinical Specialist Podiatrist – Diabetes, Community Healthcare, Cavan Monaghan, from which current and future permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full or part time duration may be filled.
This post is primarily community based providing specialist diabetic foot knowledge, supporting the integrated Endocrinologist and their diabetes team, leading on the community diabetic foot service and providing leadership and specialist clinical knowledge in the multidisciplinary diabetic foot team within the Foot protection team. The post involves working to develop integrated care pathways for the diabetic foot within the hospital service and with the Diabetic Foot Protection Team and the diabetes specialist team in the Ambulatory care HUB within the community settings.
This post may be subject to restructuring in the future to facilitate the re-organisation of services in line with new clinical models of care within acute and community services. It is noted that the post must be congruent with the requirements of, and facilitate implementation of Sláintecare, and the HSE’s National Framework for the Integrated Prevention and Management of Chronic Disease, Diabetic Models of Care, the National Clinical Programme for Diabetes and the Enhanced Community Care Business Case, including commitment to deliver the relevant performance outcomes.

Eligibility Criteria
(a) Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date of the competition have the following:
(i) Be registered, or be eligible for registration on the Podiatrists Register maintained by the Podiatrists Registration Board at CORU.
AND
(ii) Have five years full time (or an aggregate of five years) post registration qualification experience. Of which four years full time (or an aggregate of four years) post registration qualification clinical experience must be in the required area of Specialism.
AND
(iii) Demonstrate a proven record of clinical excellence in the specialism.
AND
(iv) Candidates must demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development relevant to the required area of specialism, in the form of post-graduate qualifications or relevant courses.
AND
(v) Candidates must demonstrate achievement in the areas of clinical audit, quality improvement initiatives, practice development, teaching and research.
AND
(vi) Provide proof of Statutory Registration on the Podiatrists Register maintained by the Podiatrists Registration Board at CORU before a contact of employment can be issued.
Annual registration
(i) On appointment practitioners must maintain annual registration on the Podiatrists Register maintained by the Podiatrists Registration Board at CORU.
(ii) Practitioners must confirm annual registration with CORU to the HSE by way of the annual Patient Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC).
Health
A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.

Post Specific Requirements
Demonstrate depth and breadth of experience working in specialist Diabetic foot clinics, to include working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Other requirements specific to the post: Full drivers licence and Transport is necessary
