The post of Clinical Nurse Manager 2 (Clinical Skills Facilitator – Theatre) is a pivotal role in service planning, co-ordinating, and managing activity and resources within the clinical area. The main responsibilities are: quality assurance, people management, resource management, staffing and staff development, practice development, facilitating communication and professional / clinical leadership

The Clinical Nurse Manager 2 (Clinical Skills Facilitator – Theatre) will deliver care in line with the five core concepts of the role set out in the Framework for the Establishment of Clinical Nurse/Midwife Specialist Posts, 4th edition, National Council for the Professional Development of Nursing and Midwifery (NCNM) 2008

Statutory Registration, Professional Qualifications, Experience etc.

Eligible candidates will be those who on the closing date for the competition:

• Be registered in the General Division of the Register of Nurses maintained by An Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland) or be entitled to be so registered

                                                                  And

• Have at least 5 years post registration experience – two of which must be in Theatre nursing

And

• Have the clinical and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role

And

• Have the clinical, managerial and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role.

And

• Demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development at the appropriate level.

Annual Registration

• On appointment, practitioners, must maintain live registration on the General Nurse Division of the Register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland [NMBI] (Bord Altranais agus Cnaimhseachais na hEireann)

And

• Practitioners must confirm annual registration with the NMBI to the HSE by way of the annual Patient Safety Assurance Certificate [PSAC]

Health

A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.

Character

Each candidate for and any person holding the office must be of good character.

Note¹: Candidates must achieve a pass in Ordinary or Higher level papers. A pass in a foundation level paper is not acceptable.  Candidates must have achieved these grades on the Leaving Certificate Established programme or the Leaving Certificate Vocational programme.  The Leaving Certification Applied Programme does not fulfil the eligibility criteria.

Post Specific Requirements:

• Have Post graduate in operating theatre nursing
• Demonstrate depth and breadth of experience in relation to nursing practice as relevant to the role.
