Overview

The Physiotherapist, Clinical Specialist will be responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of an evidenced based, patient focused, quality Physiotherapy Service, in this specialty area.

Essential Criteria

Candidates must have at the latest date of application:

 

1) Statutory Registration, Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc

 

a) Candidate for appointment must, on closing date of application:

 

Be registered, or be eligible for registration, on the Physiotherapist Register maintained by the Physiotherapist Registration Board at CORU.  See attached link for current approved Physiotherapy qualifications: https://coru.ie/health-and-social-care-professionals/education/approved-qualifications/physiotherapists/

 

If you are a section 91 candidate, please note:

Individuals who qualified before the 30th September 2018 and are registered or have applied for registration under section 91 of the Health and Social Care Professionals Act, 2005, must hold a Physiotherapy Qualification approved by CORU in order to be eligible to apply.  The list of approved qualifications under the section 91 route can be accessed on the attached link: https://coru.ie/files-registration/hse-list-of-physiotherapist-qualifications.pdf

 

                                                                          AND

 

Candidates must have five years full time [or an aggregate of five years full time] post qualification clinical experience.  Of which four years full time (or an aggregate of four years) post registration clinical experience must be in the required area of specialism.

 

                                                                            AND

 

Demonstrate a proven record of clinical excellence in the specialism.

 

                                                                                   AND

 

Candidates must demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development relevant to the required area of specialism, in the form of post-graduate qualifications or relevant courses.

 

                                                                                   AND

 

Candidates must demonstrate achievement in the areas of clinical audit, quality improvement initiatives, practice development, teaching and research.

 

                                                                                   AND

 

Provide proof of Statutory Registration on the Physiotherapists Register maintained by the Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU before a contract of employment can be issued.

 

 

 

2. Annual Registration

 

On appointment practitioners must maintain annual registration on Physiotherapists Register maintained by the Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU

 

                                                   AND

 

Practitioners must confirm annual registration with CORU to the HSE by way of the annual Patient Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC)

 

Post Specific Requirments:

  • Demonstrate depth and breadth of experience in orthopaedic/musculoskeletal physiotherapy as relevant to the role, including management of recent trauma, fractures and musculoskeletal conditions.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to continuous professional development relevant to the required area of specialism.
  • Demonstrate evidence of leadership in MDT working and collaboration in 
  • musculoskeletal/orthopaedic services.
  • Demonstrate depth and breadth of experience in an acute hospital setting as relevant to the role.
