Details of Service

The Cavan Monaghan Respiratory Integrated Service is dedicated to providing services based on evidence based best practice.  The RANP Respiratory Integrated Care is primarily focused on promoting new ways of working collaboratively to improve the quality of care delivered by those who work within the whole care system (DOH 2019). 

 

The RANP (Respiratory Integrated Care) works within Chronic Disease Hub/Primary Care setting in Cavan/Monaghan. 

The RANP (Respiratory Integrated Care) practices in collaboration with the Consultant (Respiratory Integrated Care) and Respiratory integrated multidisciplinary team.

Organisational Context

Purpose of the Post

The advanced practice service is provided by nurses who practice at a higher level of capability as independent, autonomous and expert advanced practitioners. The overall purpose of the service is to provide safe, timely, evidenced based nurse-led care to patients at an advanced nursing level. This involves undertaking and documenting complete episodes of patient care, which includes comprehensively assessing, diagnosing, planning, treating and discharging patients in accordance with collaboratively agreed local policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines and/or service level agreements/ memoranda of understanding (MoU).

 

The RANP (Respiratory) will play a key role in the delivery of care, they will have experience in the delivery of Respiratory services that helps to manage a patient's care journey and signpost patients to the correct service, coordinate patients' treatment plans, connect them with health care professionals, and evaluate their progress

 

The roles will evolve as the structures within the Healthcare area are further developed and established.

A panel may be created for Registered Advanced Nurse Practitioner in Respiratory Care from which permanent and specified purpose vacanciesof full or part time duration may be filled in CH Cavan/Monaghan, Cavan/Monaghan IHA.

Essential Criteria

Candidates must have at the latest date of application:

 

Statutory Registration, Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc.

 

  • Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the competition:

 

(i) Are registered in the Advanced Nurse Practitioner division of the Nursing

and Midwifery Board of Ireland Register maintained by the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland [NMBI] (Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann).

 

                           Or

 

(ii) Be eligible to register in the Advanced Nurse Practitioner division of the

Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland Register maintained by the

Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland [NMBI] (Bord Altranais agus

Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann) by meeting the criteria for registration as

an Advanced Nurse Practitioner as specified www.nmbi.ie

 

                         And

 

(iii) Have a broad base of clinical experience relevant to the advanced field of

Practice (Respiratory)

 

                       And

 

(iv) Demonstrates the competences relevant to the specialist area of advanced

Practice (Respiratory)

 

                      And

 

(b) Candidates must possess the requisite knowledge and ability including a high

standard of suitability and clinical, professional and administrative capacity to

properly discharge the functions of the role

 

Annual registration

 

(i) On appointment, practitioners must maintain live annual registration on the Advanced Nurse Practitioner Division of the register of Nurses and Midwives

maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann) for the role

 

                    AND

 

(ii) Practitioners must confirm annual registration with NMBI to the HSE by way of the annual Patient Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC).

 

Health

Candidates for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of

undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would

indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.

 

Character

Candidates for and any person holding the office must be of good character.

 

Post Specific Requirements

Demonstrate depth and breadth of nursing experience in the specialist area of Registered Advance Nurse Practitioner (Respiratory) as relevant to the role.

 

Other requirements specific to the post

A full Irish, EU, or UK driver’s licence and access to suitable transport are required.
