Overview

The Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist (ENT / Vestibular Rehabilitation) will work as part of the Physiotherapy team and the Consultant led Ear Nose and Throat (ENT) service in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, providing advanced triage and physiotherapy services. The Clinical Specialist will provide leadership and education to the Physiotherapy services cross site including Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital (OLOLH), Louth County Hospital (LCH), and the Cottage hospital.

 

Duties include:

  • To provide an advanced vestibular physiotherapy triage and treatment service in the ENT / Vestibular clinics, including referral of patients to the relevant pathways for ongoing management.
  • To work closely with the Multidisciplinary (MDT), in providing a dynamic, rehabilitation focussed, and evidence based service.
  • To provide specialist physiotherapy care to complex vestibular patients, referred to the physiotherapy department.
  • To consult on vestibular referrals received to other services within physiotherapy department.
  • Undertake a clinical caseload within the physiotherapy department.
  • To work with all relevant stakeholders to improve the pathway of care for patients between Community and Acute services.
  • To participate in audit and research activities.
  • To act as an education resource for colleagues locally, regionally or nationally.

 

Clinical Specialist reporting relationship:

  • Physiotherapy Manager for physiotherapy clinical governance, attendance and service performance management.

ENT Consultants for clinical governance in triage, advanced practice remit and service performance management.

 

 

A panel may be formed as a result of this campaign from which current and future, permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full or part-time duration may be filled

Essential Criteria

Statutory Registration, Professional Qualifications, Experience

 

  • Be registered, or be eligible for registration, on the Physiotherapists Register maintained by the Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU.

AND

(ii)   Have 5 years full time (or an aggregate of five years full time)  years post qualification clinical experience of which 4 years must be consecutive in the required area of specialism

 

AND

  • Demonstrate a proven record of clinical excellence in the specialism

 

                                                        AND

  • Provide proof of Statutory Registration on the Physiotherapists Register maintained by the Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU before a contract of employment can be issued.

 

 Professional Development and Practice

 

  • Candidates must demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development relevant to the required area of specialism, in the form of post-graduate qualifications or relevant courses

 

  • Have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.

 

 

 

  1. Annual registration

(i)         On appointment practitioners must maintain annual registration on the Physiotherapists Register maintained by the Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU

AND

(ii)        Practitioners must confirm annual registration with CORU to the HSE by way of the annual Patient Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC).

 

 

  1. Health

Candidates for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.

 

Character

Candidates for and any person holding the office must be of good character.
