Community Healthcare Cavan Monaghan

 

A panel may be formed as a result of this campaign for Senior Occupational Therapist, for current and future permanent and specified purpose contracts of whole/part time, to be filled in Cavan Monaghan in the following clinical areas;

  • Paediatrics Primary Care
  • Adult Primary Care (including the Early Supported Discharge Team)
  • Integrated Care Programme for Older People (ICPOP) (including MTRR, MASS, ICTOP hub)

Organisational Context

Purpose of the Post

 

To be responsible for the provision of a high quality Occupational Therapy service in accordance with standards of professional practice and best practice guidelines.

To work in conjunction and collaborate with other team members in co-ordinating and developing an occupational therapy service to meet the needs of the population it serves in line with the objectives of the organisation.

To work with the Line Manager/Therapy Manager in ensuring the co-ordination, development and delivery of a high quality, client centred Occupational Therapy service within the networks in the geographical area, across Cavan & Monaghan Health Services.

To carry out clinical and educational duties as required.

 

HSE Community Healthcare Services are the broad range of services that include Primary Care, Disability Services, Older Person Services, Mental Health and Health & Wellbeing Services.

These services are delivered through the HSE and its funded agencies to people in local communities, as close as possible to people’s homes. Full details of the services provided by CHCM.

The Senior Occupational Therapist Job Description, is aligned to the evolving changes to HSE National Structures and Service Delivery Models, in relation to Slaintecare and the establishment of the Regional Health Authorities (RHAs).

 

The campaign design for the Senior Occupational Therapist Job Description was completed in collaboration with the Occupational Therapist Manager and the operational managers.

 

The roles will evolve as the structures within the Healthcare Area are further developed and established.

Essential Criteria

Eligibility Criteria:

Qualifications and/or experience,

 

Candidates must have at the latest date of application:

 

Statutory Registration, Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc

 

 Candidates for appointment must:

(i) Be registered, or be eligible for registration, on the Occupational Therapists Register maintained by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU.

AND

(ii) Have three years’ full time (or an aggregate of three years) post qualification clinical experience.

AND

(iii) Have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.

AND

(iv) Provide proof of Statutory Registration on the Occupational Therapists Register maintained by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU before a contract of employment can be issued.

 

 

Annual Registration

 

(i) On appointment practitioners must maintain annual registration on the Occupational Therapists Register maintained by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU

AND

(ii) Practitioners must confirm annual registration with CORU to the HSE by way of the

annual Patient Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC)

 

Health

A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.

 

Character

Each candidate for and any person holding the office must be of good character.

 

 

Post specific Requirements:

 

A high level of clinical knowledge and evidence based practice to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the role in the Clinical Areas chosen. 

There should also be evidence of completion of CPD, which is relevant to the clinical area chosen.

Demonstration of a depth and breadth of experience, relevant to the posts available.

The following clinical areas will form part of the interview process within this campaign.

  • Paediatrics Primary Care
  • Adult Primary Care (including the Early Supported Discharge Team)
  • Integrated Care Programme for Older People (ICPOP) (including MTRR, MASS, ICTOP hub-Reablement)

Applications must indicate which panel they would like to interview for. Applicants are welcome to apply for multiple panels depending on their experience to date.

 

Other requirements specific to the post:

  • Access to own transport/appropriate transport is a necessary requirement as the post will involve frequent travel, to fulfil the requirements of the role.
  • The Senior Occupational Therapist will work closely with the Occupational Therapy teams across the service area and cross cover may be required to ensure timely service delivery to patients accessing the service
