Overview

The purpose of the Grade IV Clerical Officer post is to provide administrative support within the Respiratory & Sleep Diagnostics Department and supervise clerical staff under their remit. The post holder will provide administrative support to hospital consultants, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the medical office and also act as a vital link between patients, medical staff and other stakeholders.

The Grade IV Clerical Officer may be redeployed throughout various departments to ensure service delivery is maintained.

Qualifications, Experience, etc.

 

  • Have obtained a pass (Grade D) in at least five subjects from the approved list of subjects in the Department of Education Leaving Certificate Examination, including Mathematics and English or Irish1. Candidates should have obtained at least Grade C on higher level papers in three subjects in that examination.

Or

  • Have completed a relevant examination at a comparable standard in any equivalent examination in another jurisdiction

Or

 

  • Hold a comparable and relevant third level qualification of at least level 6 on the National Qualifications Framework maintained by Qualifications and Quality Ireland, (QQI).

Or

  • Hold a comparable and relevant third level qualification of at least level 6 on the National Qualifications Framework maintained by Qualifications and Quality Ireland, (QQI).

And

 

Candidates must possess the requisite knowledge and ability, including a high standard of suitability, for the proper discharge of the office.

 

Post Specific Requirements: 

  • Have at least one year HSE secretarial/administrative experience.
  • Experience with audio/Dictaphone typing OR recent completion of a relevant course in typing and medical terminology.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft packages.
  • Experience of working in a healthcare environment.
  • Experience of using Hospital IT Systems.
  • Ability to communicate fluently in both written and oral formats.

 

Desirable:

  • Specific knowledge and experience in managing diagnostics databases, NIMIS, RIS, Metrics, IPMs, and Sentry Suite, Somnomedics, applications.
  • Knowledge in IPMS, MedModus, Healthlink, and G2 digital dictation systems.
  • Inpatient Bed management experience.
  • Waiting List management experience.
