Details of Service
Community Healthcare Networks consist of Primary Care Teams and Network based staff which manage and deliver local community healthcare services to meet the needs of people in a defined catchment area.
Within Cavan there are eight Primary Care Teams and within Monaghan there are five Primary Care Teams, and, one Children’s Team within each Community Healthcare Network.
The Community Healthcare Network Manager is responsible for service delivery within six disciplines within the Primary Care Teams, to include; Dieticians, Occupational Therapists, Podiatrists, Physiotherapists, Social Workers and Speech and Language Therapists, across the following grades; therapy assistant, staff grade, senior grade, and clinical specialist grade.
The Therapy Manager is responsible for the Clinical Assurance of the staff clinical practice and clinical service provision, within their respective discipline clinical roles and grades.
The person appointed to this post will work as part of a multidisciplinary team(s) delivering a coordinated approach to client care in Adult Services living in our community, at the right time and in the right place according to the principles of Sláintecare.
They will be assigned to a designated Speech & Language Therapy service and work as a Senior Speech & Language Therapist in their designated clinical area to deliver a high quality, holistic, co-ordinated client centred Speech & Language Therapy service, in line with the Operating Model, and in conjunction with the Therapy Manager/Line Manager of the service.
A formal clinical supervision framework is in place to support performance achievement goals, of staff and of the service, to deliver the clinical services in line with evidenced based practice standards.
The roles will evolve as the structures within the Healthcare Area are further developed and established.

Four speciality Senior SLT panels will be formed as a result of this campaign for Senior Speech & Language Therapists from which current and future, permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full or part-time duration may be filled.
Candidates must have at the latest date of application:
Statutory Registration, Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc
(a) Candidates for appointment must:
(i) Be registered, or be eligible for registration, as a Speech & Language Therapist by the Speech & Language Therapists Registration Board at CORU.
AND
(ii) Have 3 years full time (or an aggregate of 3 years full time) post qualification clinical experience.
AND
(jii) Candidates must have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.
AND
(iv) Provide proof of Statutory Registration on the Speech & Language Therapist Register maintained by the Speech & Language Therapists Registration Board at CORU before a contract of employment can be issued.
2. Annual registration
(i) On appointment, practitioners must maintain annual registration on the Speech & Language Therapists Register maintained by the Speech & Language Therapists Registration Board at CORU.
AND
(ii) Practitioners must confirm annual registration with CORU to the HSE by way of the annual Patient Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC).
3. Health
Candidates for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.

Post specific Requirements- relevant to the post being offered
A high level of clinical knowledge and evidence based practice to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the role in the Clinical Areas chosen.
There should also be evidence of completion of CPD which is relevant to the clinical area chosen.
Demonstration of a depth and breadth of experience, relevant to the posts available.
