Overview

The overall purpose of the post is to assist the Clinical Lead in the clinical governance of the service and to contribute to and support the development of the service in line with service operational plans.

The Principal Psychologist Specialist (Obesity) will be responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of an evidenced based, patient focused, quality Psychology Service, in a specialty area.

The Principal Psychologist Specialist (Obesity) will provide supervision and line-management for the relevant Psychology staff, in addition to carrying a clinical caseload.

Essential Criteria

Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc.

 

Candidates must have at the latest date of application:

  • A recognised University degree or diploma obtained with first or second class honours in which psychology was taken as a major subject and honours obtained in that subject, and, 
  • Recognised postgraduate professional psychological qualification appropriate to the area of professional psychology in which the position is designated.
  • Have at least eight years satisfactory post graduate experience in the area of professional psychology in which the position is designated inclusive of any time spent in pursuing a course leading to the postgraduate qualification and including at least three years satisfactory experience in a senior capacity
  • Candidates must possess the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and management ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.

 

Post Specific Requirements:

  • Demonstrate depth and breadth of achievement in the development of high quality, integrated, accountable and efficient obesity services, as relevant to the role.
  • Demonstrate depth and breadth of experience in the provision of assessment, formulation, intervention, evaluation, reporting and supervision with a broad range of clinical problems in terms of complexity and severity seen within the care group area of Obesity, as relevant to the role.
