The Staff Nurse will be part of a multidisciplinary team in the NEDOC treatment centreThe Staff Nurse will have responsibility for the management and co-ordinating the level of activity in the centreThe Staff Nurse will consult with the GP/Locum on duty in the management of cases presentingClinical responsibility remains with the GP/Locum on duty however the Staff Nurse must strive to ensure standards of care are maintainedConcerns or issues should be discussed with the CNM2.   

 

Specifically the Staff Nurse will: 

  • Provide clinical nursing support to the operational management of the service 
  • Assist GP’S/Locum’s in the care/management of patients. 
  • Provide nursing care, treatment, screening and patient education to patients that are directed to the Treatment Centre by the Triage Team. 

Essential Criteria

Candidates must have at the latest date of application:  

 

  • Be registered in the General Division of the Register of Nurses maintained by Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland) or be entitled to be so registered 

 And 

  • Have the clinical and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role 

 

 

 

 

Annual Registration 

  • On appointment, practitioners must maintain live annual registration on the General  

Nurse Division of the Register of Nurses & Midwives maintained by Nursing and  

Midwifery Board of Ireland [NMBI] (Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann) 

 

And 

 

  • Practitioners must confirm annual registration with the NMBI to the HSE by way of the  

annual Patient Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC). 

 

Health 

A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.  

 

Character 

Each candidate for and any person holding the office must be of good character.
