The Children’s Disability Network Manager (CDNM) is the Operational Line Manager for the Children’s Disability Network Team (CDNT). The Interim Speech and Language Therapist, Manager will work in collaboration with CDNMs in the Health Region and other Discipline Managers in CDNTS, Primary Care and CAMHS to ensure particular elements as set out in this Job Specification and that emerge as service priorities are progressed.  

 

The Interim Speech and Language Therapist, Manager will not have any line management responsibilities for staff members in the CDNTs. 

 

The Interim Speech and Language Therapist, Manager in the CDNTs of  the Dublin North East Region will be responsible for the delivery and development of a high quality, integrated and effective Speech and Language Therapy service within an interdisciplinary service model. 

 

The Interim Speech and Language Therapist, Manager appointment is for 1 year and will be subject to review against set KPIs and Service Priorities as agreed by the Lead Agency as set out below: 

 

Clinical Governance 

 

Clinical Supervision   

  • Allocated staff for Clinical Supervision which match the gaps within each of the Health Regions. 

Enhancing talent acquisition and boosting Disability service visibility  

  • Supporting recruitment, retention and workforce planning 
  • Co-ordinate under graduate student placements across the CDNTs. 
  • Provide clinical leadership for the rollout of Therapy Assistant grades within their area. 
  • Be a representative of the Service in relation to the development of apprenticeship schemes. 

 Optimising efficiency, output and outcome   

  • Take a lead role in relation to the development and roll out of discipline specific and interdisciplinary clinical pathways   
  • Develop tools to capture clinical outcomes for children accessing CDNT services 
  • Participate in the Clinical Advisory Group  

Quality and Safety   

  • Contribute to the clinical components of those under complex case management and contribute to a comprehensive review mechanism for children, including those in residential care. 
  • Be responsible for input into these reviews to ensure that the service continues to meet the needs of children. 
  • Contribute to the clinical components of these reviews to ensure that the service continues to meet the needs of the children 
  • Contribute clinical inputs to inform decisions regarding cases being disputed under the National Access Policy 

 

Any other duties as may be identified by the Lead Agency. 

Essential Criteria

Candidates for appointment must: 

 

Be registered, or be eligible for registration, as a Speech & Language Therapist by the Speech & Language Therapists Registration Board at CORU. 

And 

 

Have 5 years full time (or an aggregate of 5 years full time) post qualification clinical experience 

 

And 

 

Have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability, management, leadership and professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office 

And 

 

Provide proof of Statutory Registration on the Speech & Language Therapist Register maintained by the Speech & Language Therapists Registration Board at CORU before a contract of employment can be issued.  

 

 

Annual Registration 

 

On appointment practitioners must maintain annual registration on the Speech & Language Therapists Register maintained by the Speech & Language Therapists Registration Board at CORU 

 

And 

 

Practitioners must confirm annual registration with CORU to the HSE by way of the Patient Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC) 

 

 

 

Health 

A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.  

 

Character 

Each candidate for and any person holding the office must be of good character. 

 

Note1: Candidates must achieve a pass in Ordinary or Higher level papers. A pass in a foundation level paper is not acceptableCandidates must have achieved these grades on the Leaving Certificate Established programme or the Leaving Certificate Vocational programmeThe Leaving Certification Applied Programme does not fulfil the eligibility criteria.
