Overview

This campaign is confined to existing staff within the Dublin and North East Region

 

These posts are based in the Surgical Hub, and the responsibilities include accountability for delivery of direct patient care inclusive of taking an allocation of patients.

 

CNM1 Job Purpose

The primary role of the CNM 1 will be one of clinical and professional leadership and development in the nursing team, including the development of advanced clinical skills by means of in-service training, orientation of new staff and arranging for clinical experience and supervision of student nurses where this is appropriate.

The post holder will have specific responsibility for the education; professional development and mentoring of staff to ensure staff meet the required competency to deliver on the agreed standards for patients accessing care.

 

The CNM1 role is fundamental to assist the CNM2 in the management of the clinical area and provide strong leadership within the multidisciplinary team

Responsible for the management, care and treatment of service users, to ensure that the optimum standard of care is provided within the designated area(s) of responsibility.

 

CNM2 Job Purpose

The post of CNM II has a pivotal role in service planning, co-ordinating and managing activity and resources within the clinical area. The main responsibilities are quality assurance, resource management, staffing and staff development, practice development, facilitating communication and professional / clinical leadership.

 

CNM3 Job Purpose

The CNM3 has day to day operational responsibilities which  include the following;

 

  • The promotion of best practice that is evidence based with the ultimate outcome of improving patient care and outcomes in areas of responsibility.
  • Provide senior and expert professional advice to the team and the Director of Nursing and Midwifery Services.
  • Ensure appropriate skill-mix and efficient deployment of staffing and other resources across areas of responsibility.
  • Ensure appropriate professional development of staff is in place via PDP and training needs assessment.
  • The implementation of the Quality Safety and Risk Framework within the areas.
  • The continuous development of service based clinical governance teams.
  • Maintaining a collaborative approach to multidisciplinary and inter departmental working.
  • Recruitment, retention and general monitoring of staff performance within the nursing service.
  • Establishing and promoting effective channels of communication internally within areas of responsibility and other departments in order to provide a seamless service.
  • The operational management of the nursing teams in areas including Human Resources and Finance functions to support effective and efficient use of resources.
  • Providing on-going practical and psychological support for nursing staff and other members of the multidisciplinary teams.
  • The post holder supports the implementation of the Director of Nursing Services’ vision for nursing.

Essential Criteria

Candidates  must have at the latest date of application:

 

CNM1 Criteria

  •  Be registered in the General Division of the Register of Nurses & Midwives maintained by Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland) or be entitled to be so registered

                                                                        And

  • Have at least 3 years post registration experience of which 1 year post registration full time experience must be in the speciality or related area.

                                                                        And

  • Have the clinical, managerial and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role

                                                           And

  • Candidates must demonstrate evidence of Continuing Professional Development.

CNM2 Criteria

  •  Are registered in the General Division of the Register of Nurses & Midwives maintained by an Bord Altranais agus Cnaimhseachais na hEireann (Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland) or be entitled to be so registered.

                                                                         AND

  • Have at least 5 years post registration experience  experience) of which 2 years must be in the speciality area of Theatre

                                                                         AND

  • Candidates must demonstrate evidence of continuous professional development.

                                                                         AND

  •  Candidates must possess the requisite knowledge and ability including a high standard of suitability and clinical, managerial and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role.

CNM3 Criteria

  • Be registered in the relevant Division of the Live Register of Nurses maintained by An Bord Altranais or be entitled to be so registered.

                                                                           AND

  • Have at least 5 years post registration experience of which 2 must be in a Theatre setting, with 2 years’ experience at CNM2 or equivalent level.

                                                                           AND

  • Management course or relevant professional development at 3rd level or in pursuit of same.
