Specialist Palliative Care Services – Cavan Monaghan

 

There is currently One permanent whole time vacancy (1.WTE) available in Palliative Care Services, Cavan Monaghan, Dochas Centre, Conaty Centre, Cullies, Cavan H12 ESC7. The post holder will relocate to the new 16- bed specialist inpatient palliative care unit upon its commissioning, Loreto Road, Cavan, H12 Y288

 

The Regional Specialist Palliative Care Service Louth Meath, Cavan, Monaghan provides a quality interdisciplinary specialist palliative care service to patients/clients and families living with life limiting conditions

We aim to do this by enabling clients through supported decision making in the management of symptoms and the provision of physical. psychological, spiritual and social support

Regional Specialist Palliative Care Services provides palliative care to patients and their families across the counties of Louth, Meath, Cavan and Monaghan. Palliative Care is provided in all care settings across the life span on the basis of need alone.

This service is about to undergo significant expansion with the commissioning of a Regional Specialist Palliative care Unit in Drogheda and a Satellite Palliative Care Unit in Cavan.

 

 

A panel may be formed as a result of this campaign for Director of Nursing, Assistant - (ADON) Palliative Care, Regional Palliative Care Services, Louth Meath Cavan Monaghan from which current and future, permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full or part-time duration may be filled.

Essential Criteria

 

Candidates must have at the latest date of application. 

  • Are registered, or are eligible for registration, in the General Nurse Division, and other divisions as relevant to the specific service, of the Register of Nurses and Midwives, as appropriate, maintained by the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland [NMBI] (Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann).
  • Have 7 years post registration nursing experience and 3 years nursing management experience at a minimum of Clinical Nurse Manager 2 (CNM 2) in an acute setting and or an area relevant to the role.
  • Have successfully completed a post registration programme of study, as certified by the education provider, which verifies that the applicant has achieved a National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) major academic Level 8 or higher award maintained by Quality & Qualifications of Ireland (QQI) or can provide written evidence from the Higher Education Institute that they have achieved the number of ECTS credits equivalent to a Level 8 or higher standard in a health care or management related area.Candidates must possess the requisite clinical, leadership, managerial and administrative knowledge and ability for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.

A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.

Each candidate for and any person holding the office must be of good character.

 

Age

Age restrictions shall only apply to a candidate where he/she is not classified as a new entrant (within the meaning of the Public Service Superannuation Act, 2004).  A candidate who is not classified as a new entrant must be under 65 years of age on the first day of the month in which the latest date for receiving completed application forms for the office occurs.
