Overview

Exciting New Surgical Hub Opening in Swords Business Campus Quarter 4 2025. Currently seeking expressions of interest from Staff Grade Radiographers & Staff Grade Medical Scientists currently working within the HSE Dublin North East Region.

 

Radiographers

The Basic Grade Radiographer will provide and contribute to the provision of a general X-ray service for the Surgical Hub.  They will become members of the existing radiography team delivering X-ray as part of a dynamic and growing health care facility catering for the health needs of all service users.  The successful candidate will carry out the duties appropriate to a basic grade radiographer.

 

Medical Scientist

The post holder will participate in the delivery of a quality laboratory service that supports the clinical needs of the Surgical Hub's patients and is consistent with the mission, vision, values and strategic plan of the organisation.

Essential Criteria

For Radiographer

Candidates for appointment must:

 

(i)

Be registered on the Radiography Division of the Radiographers Register maintained by the Radiographers Registration Board at CORU.

 

And

(ii)

Have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.

 

Annual registration

Practitioners must maintain live annual registration on the Radiographer Division of the Radiographers Register maintained by the Radiographers Registration Board at CORU.

A

For Medical Scientist

Possess a Bachelor in Science (Applied Science) Honours degree (Biomedical option) from the University of Dublin/Dublin Institute of technology (now Technological University, Dublin), Kevin Street 

          Or

Possess a Bachelor in Science Honours degree in Biomedical Science from the joint University College Cork - Cork Institute of Technology course.

          Or

Possess the Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences of the Dublin Institute of Technology, Kevin Street or the Cork Institute of Technology awarded prior to 1994.

          Or

Possess the Certificate in Medical Laboratory Sciences of the Dublin Institute of Technology, Kevin Street or the Cork Institute of Technology or the Galway/Mayo Institute of Technology (awarded prior to 1997).

           Or

Possess a recognised qualification at least equivalent to (i) or (ii) above.

          And

Possess membership of, or be eligible for membership of the Academy of Clinical Science and Laboratory Medicine (ACSLM) or, prior to 1997, possess or be eligible for associate membership of the Academy of Clinical Science and Laboratory Medicine (ACSLM).

          And

Possess the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and management ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.

          Or

All applicants from outside the Republic of Ireland must be eligible for state registration through CORU.

 

Health

A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.

 

Character

Each candidate for and any person holding the office must be of good character.

 

Age

The Public Service Superannuation (Age of Retirement) Act, 2018* set 70 years as the compulsory retirement age for public servants.

 

  * Public Servants not affected by this legislation:

Public servants recruited between 1 April 2004 and 31 December 2012 (new entrants) have no compulsory retirement age.

Public servants recruited since 1 January 2013 are members of the Single Pension Scheme and have a compulsory retirement age of 70.
