The role of the Radiography Assistant is to assist the radiographers and nursing staff to deliver an efficient and caring radiology/imaging service to patients under the supervision of the Radiography Service Manager or delegate.

On each working rota the X-Ray care assistant will work under the supervision and direction of the radiography staff in relation to duties and responsibilities associated with direct patient care.

Patient confidentiality must be maintained at all times.

The post holder will be required to work night shifts and weekends.

Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc.

 Candidates must have at the closing date for receipt of applications:

•  The relevant Health skills QQI (formally FETAC) level 5 qualification

               OR

•  An equivalent relevant health care qualification or a comparable healthcare qualification as outlined in the Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) NARIC Ireland framework

               OR

•  Be currently employed as a Health Care Assistant or a comparable role.

             AND

• Candidates must have the personal competence and capacity to properly discharge the duties of the role.

Health

A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.

Character

Each candidate for and any person holding the office must be of good character.
