The function of this post is to co-ordinate and provide a quality service to bereaved families in relation to all aspects of pregnancy, neonatal and early childhood loss.
This CMM2/CNM2 is required to coordinate the Termination of Pregnancy services in accordance with legislation - Health (Regulation of Termination of Pregnancy) Act 2018.
The role encompasses a large component of co-ordination across the acute setting. This role includes patient support, working closely with the wider multidisciplinary team, patient / family support and interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary communication including strong liaison with primary care providers.
The termination of pregnancy service is expected to commence by the end of Q1 2025 and the coordination of the delivery of care involves prompt and timely interactions with General Practitioners of the region and women accessing the service. In addition, this role involves arranging referrals to the scanning department and liaising with bed management in order to facilitate admissions when required to the Gynaecology ward.
This role will also involve ongoing staff education regarding the service throughout the Cavan and Monaghan Hospital campus. The role will involve supporting women through their journey in its entirety, including any follow up.
The role will involve providing regular support in the Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit if required (location of early scans) which provides scheduled and unscheduled care.
The loss of a baby at any stage in pregnancy whether through termination of pregnancy, miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal or early childhood loss can be a difficult time for families. Our aim is to provide support, assistance, education and guidance to affected families during this time.
The CMM/CNM provides psychological support and counselling in relation to grief and loss.
The CMM/CNM will meet with women while attending the maternity/gynaecology services and will act as an advocate on their behalf.
The CMM/CNM will demonstrate behaviour consistent with the mission and values of the Hospital and place kindness and compassion at the core of his/her daily work.
This campaign will run in compliance with the Code of Practice prepared by the Commission for Public Service Appointments (CPSA).
The CPSA is responsible for establishing the principles that should be followed when making an appointment. These are set out in the CPSA Code of Practice. The Code outlines the standards that should be adhered to at each stage of the selection process and sets out the review and appeal mechanisms open to candidates should they be unhappy with a selection process.
